ReelzChannel Taps Rob Swartz As SVP

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA, May 21, 2012 – The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced today that REELZCHANNEL will carry the 2012 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy® Awards which will once again be produced by Spike Jones, Jr. The announcement was made by Television Academy Chairman and CEO Bruce Rosenblum. The awards will be taped on Saturday, September 15th and a two-hour, edited version will air on Saturday, September 22nd at 8:00 PM ET/PT. This marks the 18th year that Jones, Jr. will produce the awards and the second time REELZCHANNEL will air the ceremony.

“The Creative Arts Emmy Awards show celebrates our industry’s most prolific and talented artists, working both in front of and behind the camera,” said Rosenblum. “The Television Academy could not be more pleased that REELZCHANNEL will televise this special event for the second consecutive year. We are also excited to welcome back longtime producer Spike Jones, Jr., whose inventiveness and creativity continues to showcase and honor the important work of our community in fresh and exciting ways.”

“We’re thrilled to partner with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for a second consecutive year as the home for the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards,” said Stan E. Hubbard, CEO of REELZCHANNEL. “This night is all about the incredible artists whose work brings our industry to life. They deserve to have their efforts recognized, showcased and celebrated and we’re proud to help make that possible.”
“When I started producing this show, The Walking Dead was anything they put on opposite ER,” said Jones, Jr. “Larry King was in Atlanta, Oprah was in Chicago and the cast of Jersey Shore was in diapers. It’s an honor to be back for my 18th year.”

REELZ, as one of the fastest growing cable networks, launched its first scripted drama True Justice last March and will premiere its second scripted series, the spy thriller XIII, on Friday, June 29th, 2012.
Jones, Jr. has helped shape the Creative Arts ceremony into a major annual televised event. He will work alongside the Creative Arts Awards Show Committee members including the committee’s 2012 Chair, Eileen Horta, and Vice Chair, Mark Watters.

Most recently, Jones, Jr. served as Production Consultant for the 2011 MDA Labor Day Telethon and Executive Producer of the 2012 Writers Guild Awards hosted by Zooey Deschanel and Joel McHale. Through his company SJ2 Entertainment, Jones, Jr. has established himself as a leading player in the areas of awards shows and live TV variety shows, producing and directing projects for ABC, NBC, HBO, Showtime, MTV, Vh1, Nickelodeon, A&E, Spike TV, Oxygen and Lifetime.
