X2 alum Kelly Hu will take on another iconic comic book character when she steps into the villainous role of China White on The CW's upcoming superhero series, Arrow.

Hu's casting was announced Friday at Comic-Con, although no airdate for her first episode has been announced. The character of China White first appeared in the Green Arrow: Year One series of graphic novels, on which the new series is heavily based.

In the series, millionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell)returns home after being marooned on a remote island for five years and believed to be dead by his closest friends and family. China White is a South Pacific drug cartel leader who Oliver encountered during his years on the mysterious island.

For now, there's the potential for at least one another comic book character to share the small screen with Green Arrow and China White. Co-star Katie Cassidy, who plays Dinah "Laurel" Lance, said she's ready to jump into the signature fishnet stockings of her character's butt-kicking alter-ego Black Canary. "If that's what the costume is going to be and if it happens, I think I'm ready to take it on," Cassidy told the crowd. "I'm really excited."

Hu, 44, played Lady Deathstrike in X2 and has also voiced several characters from the DC Nation (of which China White is also a member) on the Cartoon Network series Young Justice. She most recently recurred on The Vampire Diaries for three seasons as Pearl, a vampire friend of Katherine (Nina Dobrev).

Arrow premieres Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 8/7c on The CW.
