Comedy Central to Have a ‘Meltdown’

Comedy Central has ordered a new stand-up series titled “The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail” from Ben Stiller and his shingle Red Hour.

Show will take place at alternative comedy club Meltdown Comics on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, and be hosted by Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani. “Meltdown” will feature comedians performing stand-up at the comicbook store and hanging backstage with Ray and Nanjiani, among other comedians.

“I’m shocked to learn this show will be taped in the back of a comicbook store, rather than a comedy store, but we’ll do it anyway,” joked Kent Alterman, president of content development and original programming for the cabler.

“Meltdown” is exec produced by Ray, Nanjiani and Emily Gordon along with Red Hour’s Stiller, Stuart Cornfeld, Debbie Liebling and Mike Rosenstein.
