Chelsea Handler opens up about her complicated family history on Tuesday's episode of TLC's "Who Do You Think You Are?" airing at 9 p.m./8c.

"She's so outspoken and has such an interesting point of view as a comedienne," the series' executive producer and ABC's "Scandal" star, Dan Bucatinsky told TheWrap.

"It's interesting to learn about her, which many don't know, she comes from a very strong, long line of Germans on one side and Jews on the other. And given the German history and Jewish history as we know it, that's obviously a very ironic merging of those two cultures," he continued.

The "Chelsea Lately" host explores her grandfather's life as a Nazi soldier during World War II and how, subsequently, he found himself in the United States.

"It's exciting, because we don't ever really deal with the period of time of Nazi Germany from the German point of view," Bucatinsky, who co-executive produces with Lisa Kudrow on the series, said. "We have from the Jewish point of view. It's bold and uncharted."

In its new home at TLC, "Who Do You Think You Are?" actually saw a 38% increase in its total viewership for its second episode of the current season with Christina Applegate's episode drawing 2.2 million viewers.

"I do think it will take some time before the four to seven million people who were watching us on NBC find us on TLC, but they are slowly but surely finding it," said Bucatinsky.
