CBS Plans A Bigger ‘Bang’ For Premiere Week
CBS has expanded the seventh-season premiere of megahit comedy “The Big Bang Theory” on Sept. 26 to one hour, pushing back by one week the series debut of “The Millers.”
The move means that both “How I Met Your Mother” and “The Big Bang Theory” will air hourlong episodes in premiere week (Sept. 23-29), with the new shows scheduled for the 8:30 p.m. slot behind them not debuting until the second week of the season. Monday newcomer “We Are Men” will premiere on Sept. 30, and Thursday rookie “The Millers” follows on Oct. 3.
The latest move allows CBS to provide the Sept. 26 series premiere of Robin Williams-Sarah Michelle Gellar comedy “The Crazy Ones” with the strongest lead-in possible.
That 9 o’clock half-hour on Sept. 26 will be a showdown of the season’s two most-anticipated new comedies, “Crazy Ones” on CBS and “The Michael J. Fox Show” on NBC. Leading into them will be hourlong episodes of “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS and “Parks and Recreation” on NBC, meaning that “Crazy Ones” will now certainly benefit from a much stronger lead-in than “Michael J. Fox.”
