CBS Pilot ‘The Surgeon General’, NBC’s ‘Brenda Forever’ Add To Casts

CBS’ drama pilot The Surgeon General has enlisted three well known actors for guest starring/potentially recurring roles. The project centers on Dr. John Sherman (Jason Isaacs), the most powerful doctor in the nation, the Surgeon General, who has 315 million patients. Anna Deavere Smith will play the Vice President; Paul McCrane is set as the President’s Chief of Staff and Miguel Sandoval as Sen. Nortega.

David Krumholtz is among a quartet of actors who round out the cast of the NBC/Sony comedy pilot Brenda Forever, which blends stories from Brenda Miller’s (Ellie Kemper) past and present to give a unique portrait of how a chubby, awkward but incredibly confident 13-year-old girl grew up to be a 31-year-old who still marches to the beat of her own drum. Krumholtz is set to play Neil, Brenda’s best friend. While the role is a lead one, Krumholtz has signed on as a guest star for now. Word is he was reluctant to commit to another broadcast series immediately following his starring turn on CBS’ Partners. Lindsay Kraft will play Jenny, Neil fiancee, a recurring role. Because of the concept of the pilot, the main characters are featured both as their current and younger selves. Mandalynn Carlson will play 13-year-old Brenda; Daija Owens is set as the young version of Brenda’s best friend Pearl.
