CBS Corp. Promotes Joseph Ianniello to COO Post

Joseph Ianniello has been upped to chief operating officer of CBS Corp.

Ianniello, who has inked a five-year pact with the Eye, has been with CBS and its predecessor Viacom for more than a decade, rising through the ranks in finance and corporate development posts. He was most recently upped in 2009 to chief financial officer of CBS, which he joined after the separation of CBS and Viacom in 2006. He’s become a top lieutenant to CBS Corp. chief Leslie Moonves.

“Joe’s role in CBS’s success these past several years has been extraordinary,” said Moonves. “He’s been a game-changing CFO, but he’s also so much more than that. He is a tough negotiator, a great manager, and someone who brings energy, passion and a great sense of teamwork to anything he does. He is also someone who has developed incredible trust and admiration on Wall Street, with our shareholders, our board of directors and my superb senior management team, of which he is an integral part.”

CBS has been a Wall Street darling in the past few years thanks to the success of the CBS mothership network and the growing international demand for its vast library of TV shows. The stock has soared 56% during the past 12 months, closing on Tuesday at $49. 11.
