Castle's world is rocked by daughter's abduction in upcoming episode [Exclusive video]

As Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) desperately try to unravel a scheme to kidnap an international businessman's daughter, things take a shocking and personal turn. In the first installment of a two-episode story arc on ABC's "Castle," Castle's teenage daughter, Alexis (Molly Quinn), is at the wrong place at the wrong time, which results in her being kidnapped alongside her friend Sarah -- who's the intended target of the plot.

In this exclusive look at the Feb. 18 episode, "Target," Castle and Beckett are getting briefed by the FBI on what happened and how Alexis got caught up in this alarming situation. The agent tells Castle that his daughter befriended Sarah in class and that they were attending an event together. Alexis's phone, equipped with GPS, revealed that it was left outside the hotel shortly after the event ended. That information, plus the fact that no one has seen or heard from Alexis in the ensuing 16 hours, leads investigators to believe that she, too, was abducted.

"Now, why would they take Alexis if Sarah was the target?" Beckett asks. Unfortunately, it seems that Alexis was with Sarah at that moment and was likely a witness, so taking her was probably a precautionary measure by the criminals.

Castle is clearly struggling to cope with the circumstances. "What happens now?" he asks. According to the agent, the FBI is going to tackle the situation from many angles, including making plans in case the kidnappers reach out (such as setting up a "trap and trace" on Castle's home phone). Castle appears most concerned with the possibility that his daughter might be seen as being in the way, thus leading to the worst-case scenario. But the FBI agent assures him that Alexis has value.

After some comforting words and a hug from Beckett, Castle walks off, and Capt. Victoria Gates (Penny Johnson) tells Beckett that she's got whatever support she needs from the department to help solve this crime.

Word also has it that Castle cries in this episode, so be sure to have a box of tissues ready for yourself too.

The "Castle" episode "Target" airs Monday, 2/18 at 10 PM on ABC.
