The Carrie Diaries: When Will Carrie Lose Her Virginity?

Since The Carrie Diaries is a prequel to Sex and the City, it seems only natural to wonder when the show's titular character will actually, you know, have sex. Monday's episode of The CW drama may bring Miss Bradshaw (AnnaSophia Robb) one step closer when she reconnects with an older childhood friend who's living the high society life in Manhattan.
Carrie reunites with George (Richard Kohnke), the son of her boss Harlan (Scott Cohen), at her internship, and he quickly takes an interest in her, but she doesn't necessarily reciprocate until she realizes her former flame Sebastian (Austin Butler) may also be moving on. Since George will be sticking around for a while, Carrie will find herself in a love triangle of sorts, which echoes the one older Carrie had with Mr. Big and Aiden. "I had not thought of it as that," executive producer Amy. B Harris insists. "Even though he comes from this intense world, [George] is definitely a more relaxed energy than Sebastian and I like that about him. To me, it was fun to bring in a part of Manhattan we hadn't seen."
Because George is older, he's more experienced, and therefore the question of Carrie's virginity will soon come up. Whether or not she gives it up to him though remains to be seen. "What I love about Carrie is she actually values her virginity and thinks a lot about what that will be, and who she wants to give it to," Harris says. "I think George being older and from a more sophisticated world has a different attitude about it. Some people think virginity is something to get out of the way and some people think it's a treasured milestone mark. I like putting Carrie up against people who have different points of view than her."
Of course, with The CW series taking liberties from both The Carrie Diaries novels and Sex and the City, this Carrie Bradshaw could lose her virginity a number of ways. In the sequel novel, Summer and the City, Carrie waits until her senior year and gives it up to Capote Duncan — you should recognize that name since Charlotte went on a date with him in the SATC pilot, though it's unclear whether they're the same person. In the HBO series, however, Carrie lost her virginity in 11th grade to Seth Bateman on a ping pong table in his rec room. To be clear, Diaries' Carrie is currently in 11th grade, so unless the writers decide upon another drastic change, it shouldn't be long before she gives away her V-card.
Though Harris says the writers have discussed what Carrie losing her virginity will look like, they have not yet reached that point, so it's unclear how similar it will be to those previous iterations. "I really want to chase down what I think is personally authentic to Carrie," she says. "She's thinking a lot about how she wants it to happen, but we haven't gotten to the place where it's happened. I like to think she's a romantic and wants something special. Whether or not that happens, it'll be a learning experience either way."
