Cablevision Retrans Deal With CBS Includes Showtime Anytime And On-Demand

The multi-year pact ensures that Cablevision customers will continue to receive programming from CBS-owned stations, Showtime, Smithsonian Channel and CBS Sports Network. In addition, the “broad agreement” will include “new services Cablevision will launch in the coming months, including Showtime Anytime and CBS prime time shows on demand,” says Cablevision EVP Mac Budill. The companies said they would not disclose terms of their deal. The agreement is most important for the New York area, where most of Cablevision’s 3.3M customers receive WCBS. CBS EVP Martin Franks called Cablevision “a cornerstone partner in our flagship market.” It also affects parts of Philadelphia and Denver where CBS has stations and Cablevision owns some systems.
