‘The Bridge’ Sets FX Record For Early DVR Playback

Thanks to especially strong DVR playback, FX’s “The Bridge” has become FX’s third most-watched series premiere to date.

In Nielsen’s Live + 3 data, which is inclusive of viewership done via DVR within a show’s first three days following its premiere telecast, the new Wednesday drama surged from 3.043 million to 4.643 million. This is the biggest jump FX has seen in L3, and it means “The Bridge” surpasses other recent drama premieres on the network, including “The Americans” (4.525 million) and “American Horror Story” (4.182 million).

The only FX two shows that have drawn more viewers within three days of a premiere are “The Shield” (which bowed before DVR data was tracked) and “Justified” (4.761 million).

When final Live + 7 estimates arrive in a couple of weeks, “The Bridge” has a shot at being the network’s biggest drama premiere on record, a record currently held by “The Americans” (5.114 million).

In adults 18-49, “The Bridge” went from 1.157 million to 1.929 million (or from a 0.9 to a 1.5 rating), making it 10th among all FX scripted dramas to date.

“The Bridge,” a co-production of Shine America and FX Prods., is set in motion by a grisly crime along the border. It stars Diane Kruger and Demian Bichir as detectives and follows their investigation of a serial killer along the Texas-Mexico border.
