The Blacklist Stars Talk About Secretive Pilot Script, Address The Big Burning Question
NBC’s The Blacklist isn’t only one of the hottest new properties of the fall, it was also a must-see pilot script when development season heated up this past spring.
Even before Emmy winner James Spader become attached to the project – in which he stars as a Most Wanted criminal mastermind who mysteriously surrenders himself to the FBI — Diego Klattenhoff, who plays FBI Agent Donald Ressler, recalls The Blacklist being “this ‘phantom’ script for an amazing project.”
For Megan Boone, who plays Elizabeth Keen — the only FBI agent with whom Spader’s Raymond “Red” Reddington will interact — the series’ “complicated female hero” was a big draw.
Also during their Comic-Con suite visit with Michael Ausiello: Boone addresses “the big question” (and easy theory) inherent with the premise — why did Red choose FBI rookie Elizabeth? — and Klattenhoff weighs in on his Homeland status.
NBC’s The Blacklist airs Mondays at 10/9c, starting Sept. 23.
