Basketball Rolls Tuesday for ABC as NBC’s ‘Voice’ Hits Low

The NBA Finals gave ABC another easy victory in key demos Tuesday, a night that saw NBC’s “The Voice” hit a low one week from its finale.

According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, “The Voice” averaged a 2.7 rating/9 share in adults 18-49 and 10.3 million viewers overall in the 8 o’clock hour, down about 10% from last week for its lowest regular episode of the season. Holding up better was the second week of “America’s Got Talent” (3.0/8 in 18-49, 11.5 million viewers overall), which nearly matched its season-premiere score — despite facing the NBA Finals this time — and built on “The Voice” to stand as Tuesday’s No. 1 series.

Numbers for ABC are subject to significant revision due to live sports action, but the NBA Finals averaged a 4.9/14 in 18-49 and 12 million viewers overall on the Alphabet’s stations from 9 to 11 p.m. — on par with Game 1 from last Thursday, which translated in the nationals to a 5.7 demo rating and 14.24 million viewers overall.

Elsewhere, Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” (1.6/5 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall) was just a sliver off last week’s averages while edging up in adults 18-34 (to 1.5/5).

CBS aired encores of “NCIS” (1.1/4 in 18-49, 8.5 million viewers overall) and “NCIS: Los Angeles” (1.0/3 in 18-49, 7.4 million viewers overall), followed by struggling newcomer “Brooklyn DA” (0.6/2 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall), which was down a tick from last week and finished behind Telemundo telenovela ” El Senor de los Cielos” in 18-49 (0.7).

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: ABC, 4.0/12; NBC, 2.9/9; Fox, 1.6/5; Univision, 1.1/3; CBS, 0.9/3; Telemundo, 0.6/2; CW, 0.2/1.

In total viewers: NBC, 11.1 million; ABC, 10.0 million; CBS, 6.5 million; Fox, 4.2 million; Univision, 3.0 million; Telemundo, 1.5 million; CW, 0.7 million.
