AXS TV Schedules ‘Nashville’ Saturday “Binge Watching” Starting September 26

AXS TV will launch its Nashville telecasts on September 26 at 8 PM ET, and will air three episodes in succession each week on Saturday nights, to emulate the “binge-watching experience.” The network in June snagged a multi-year licensing deal with Disney-ABC Television Group for off-network cable rights to the first three seasons of ABC’s music drama, as Deadline previously reported, which was by far the most notable deal for the channel. The deal is in line the deal brokered last summer to air the X Factor mothership show, The X Factor UK one day after it airs in that country. AXS TV also has acquired off-network rights to such shows as Larry The Cable Guy and Gene Simmons Family Jewels, but the Nashville deal is its first foray into off-network drama series during its broadcast run. Nashville, produced by Lionsgate Television, ABC Studios and Opry Entertainment, will kick off on AXS TV three days after its Season 4 debuts on ABC, on September 23.

Speaking of The X Factor UK, AXS TV will debut the second consecutive season of that franchise on August 30. X Factor is coming back with judge Simon Cowell and (stop me if you’ve heard this before) two new judges, and new hosts. Pop star Rita Ora and BBC Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw are new judges, joining returning Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. This season’s two new hosts are singer/songwriter/former contestant Olly Murs, and TV personality Caroline Flack. The series will air weekly, with new episodes premiering in the U.S. on Sundays and Mondays at 8 PM ET.
