Amy Poehler-Produced ‘Broad City’ Gets Series Order By Comedy Central
Comedy Central has given a 10-episode series order to Broad City, an adaptation of Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer’s digital series, for a 2014 premiere. The project, originally set up at FX in 2011, was picked up up pilot by Comedy Central last fall. It follows two friends in New York City (Jacobson, Glazer), navigating their way through the minutiae that is life. “Finally, there’s a television show set in New York City,” said Comedy Central president of original programming Kent Alterman. Broad City is executive produced by Upright Citizens Brigade alums Jacobson and Glazer; UCB co-founder Amy Poehler; Poehler’s manager, 3 Arts’ Dave Becky; and Jacobson and Glazer’s manager Samantha Saifer. Tony Hernandez is co-executive producer. “I’m excited to work with Comedy Central and introduce Abbi and Ilana to America,” Poehler said. “And all the other countries. And also Mars. We’ve got big plans.”
