ABC’s ‘Mistresses’ Rises, NBC’s ‘Winner’ Gets Sampled Monday

NBC dominated Monday in key demos behind the penultimate performance episode for this edition of “The Voice” and a special preview episode of another singing competition, “The Winner Is.” But ABC had reason to be happy with the week-two performance of original scripted drama “Mistresses,” which grew from its lackluster premiere of last week.

According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, “The Voice” averaged a 3.2 rating/10 share in adults 18-49 and 11.5 million viewers overall from 8 to 10 p.m., rising with each half-hour and coming in on par with last week. It was followed by the first of two Monday preview episodes of “The Winner Is…” (1.9/6 in 18-49, 6.6 million viewers overall), which also won its timeslot.

“Winner,” a combo singing competition and gameshow hosted by Nick Lachey, will air regularly on Thursdays starting July 11.

At ABC, “The Bachelorette” (1.7/5 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall) held steady from last week to place second to “The Voice” from 8 to 10. And at 10, “Mistresses” (1.4/4 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall) was up from its unremarkable bow of last week (1.2/3 in 18-49) to become this summer’s first new scripted series to grow in the demo from its premiere. In the nation’s three biggest markets (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago), “Mistresses” beat out “The Winner Is…” in adults 18-49.

ABC also points out that last Monday’s series premiere of “Mistresses,” which went up against the season finale of NBC’s “Revolution,” gained half a ratings point when three days of DVR playback is included in its tally.

Elsewhere, CBS aired encores of its regular Monday lineup: “How I Met Your Mother” (1.0/4 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall), “Mike & Molly” at a special time (1.0/3 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall), “2 Broke Girls” (1.2/3 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall), “Mike & Molly” in its regular 9:30 p.m. slot (1.2/3 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall) and “Hawaii Five-O” (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall).

Fox was in line with its average of last week for its lineup of a repeat “Raising Hope” (0.8/3 in 18-49, 2.1 million viewers overall), original “Goodwin Games” (0.6/2 in 18-49, 1.6 million viewers overall), repeat “New Girl” (0.6/2 in 18-49, 1.3 million viewers overall) and an airing of FX comedy “Anger Management” (0.7/2 in 18-49, 1.7 million viewers overall).

At CW, “Oh Sit” (0.4/1 in 18-49, 1.0 million viewers overall) was up week to week.

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night; NBC, 2.8/8; ABC, 1.6/5; Univision, 1.3/4; CBS, 1.0/3; Fox and Telemundo, 0.7/2; CW, 0.3/1.

In total viewers: NBC, 9.9 million; ABC, 5.2 million; CBS, 4.3 million; Univision, 3.3 million; Telemundo, 1.8 million; Fox, 1.7 million.
