2013 Met Gala Features a 'Dawson's Creek' Almost-Reunion

We don't want to wait for our lives to be over to see a "Dawson's Creek" reunion!

But it seems we'll have to wait at least a little longer. While the 2013 Met Gala featured appearances by stars Katie Holmes, Michelle Williams, and Joshua Jackson, the three Creekers didn't pose for any photos together. And Dawson himself, James Van Der Beek was missing from the scene, precluding a true reunion anyway.

Holmes and Williams dazzled in Calvin Klein and Saint Laurent, respectively, while a dashing Jackson was escorting girlfriend Diane Krueger to the glittering fashion event. The trio's attendance prompted "Dawson's Creek" fans to start buzzing on Twitter.

Nostalgia is at an all-time high because this May marks the 10th anniversary of the series finale, which TV Guide named as the 16th Most Unforgettable Finale.

Unfortunately, a reunion seems unlikely to happen anytime soon, since most of the cast members are busy with other projects. "Dawson's Creek" is the rare teen show where many of the young stars have gone on to even greater fame. Williams's movie career is flying high after she scored an Oscar nomination for "My Week With Marilyn" and starred in "Oz the Great and Powerful." Jackson just bid farewell to his sci-fi series "Fringe," while Holmes is focusing on her fashion line and raising Suri, her daughter with ex Tom Cruise. Williams's BFF, Busy Phillips, is currently on "Cougar Town," Kerr Smith has been shooting some indie movies, and Mary Beth Peil (Grams!) has been bedeviling her daughter-in-law on "The Good Wife."

Some of the stars have been open to the idea of a reunion. "I would very happily do a reunion show; I don't know what it would be," Williams told Comic-Con fans last summer. Though, "My character died in the end, so there are certain limitations for me. It's either I come back as a ghost or I'm shot through a lot of gauzy, hazy light as my 19-year-old self."

But Jackson threw cold water on the idea last December. "I don't think we'll ever have a reunion," he told Parade. "But I can't possibly put into words what an important time in my life that was. I was 19 and doing what I loved with a group of actors that became like family. I look back on it really fondly."

So will the answer to the reunion question be yes, or will it be sorry? Jackson didn't totally shoot down the possibility of such an event. As he told the Hollywood Reporter, "Never say never."
