'The Walking Dead' preview: Rick vs. the Governor -- it's on! [Video]

Valentine's Day will come early for "Walking Dead" lovers, as the AMC drama returns on February 10 with an episode that promises to pick up right where we left off in December: an imminent showdown between Rick Grimes and the Governor.

A new preview video shows all-out war between Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his prison dwellers and the Governor (David Morrissey) and his minions. Much violence ensues in the clip, which culminates with a face-to-face meeting between Rick and the Governor in what appears to be a Woodbury location.

Along the way, we also see the Governor (aka Philip) telling girlfriend (and former Team Rick ally) Andrea (Laurie Holden) that he won't be blindsided again. Meanwhile -- SPOILER ALERT -- everybody's favorite zombie-surviving Dixon brother, Daryl (Norman Reedus), has apparently escaped from Woodbury and is seen warning Rick that the Governor is gunning for him.

Previous preview clips have shown that Rick will be coming under fire from his group -- including his son, Carl (Chandler Riggs) -- who question his leadership. The remaining eight episodes of Season 3 will also find new prison resident Tyreese and his family defending their home base alongside Rick and company.

And while Andrea may be sticking around Woodbury, her one-time BFF Michonne (Danai Gurira) warms up to her new prison cohorts and continues to fight the Governor, as well.

The overall theme for the rest of Season 3: Have Rick, Carl, Glenn, Maggie, Daryl, and the rest of the survivors dealt with so much death and destruction at this point that their ongoing efforts to survive are stripping them of their humanity?

"The Walking Dead" Season 3 continues February 10 at 9 PM on AMC.
