'Blue Bloods' star Sami Gayle: Bridget Moynahan keeps my teeth clean!

"My Funny Valentine" -- Nicky Reagan-Boyle (Sami Gayle) thinks it's a good idea for her mom, Erin Reagan-Boyle (Bridget Moynahan) and her boss, Charles Rossellini, to take their flirtatious banter a step further, on "Blue Bloods."

"Blue Bloods" actress Sami Gayle made us realize something: Eating on camera must be difficult. Often, the food is colorful so it stands out on camera and it's probably very rarely the right temperature. And then there's the worry that you're going to get something in your teeth.

Luckily, Gayle, who plays teenage daughter Nicky on the show, has a secret weapon: her co-star, Bridget Moynahan.

"Bridget is like another mother for me," she told Yahoo! TV at the Hervé Léger show during New York Fashion Week. "She'll sit there inspecting my teeth before every single shot and will go in with a little tool and get [the food] out. I had braces last year -- I would get spinach stuck in my teeth. Every little thing, it would get stuck."

But, apparently, that's not the only downside to all the dinner scenes on the cop show's set. Sometimes, they eat foods that have certain biological effects on the cast.

"We always eat a lot of green food on the dinner scenes -- yesterday, we had some asparagus. And we eat, we don't have spit buckets or anything," she explained. "Everyday, it's something else green so the bathrooms on set never tend to smell too hot."

Thankfully, Sami, 17, didn't want to continue talking about the on-set restrooms and was able to give us a little tease about this week's episode instead.

"You're going to see a lot of Nicky and it's a very funny episode," she said. "At least it was for me."

"Blue Bloods" airs on Fridays at 10 PM on CBS.
