Getting to Know 'Gotham's' Robin Lord Taylor: The Penguin Is a Pop Culture Fanatic

Robin Lord Taylor has already become a Gotham fan-favorite, and that’s saying a lot considering he’s playing one of the show’s biggest baddies, Oswald Cobblepot, aka the Penguin. But there’s more to this Penguin than meets the murderous eye.

With Gotham just getting a full-season order from Fox, Yahoo TV sat down with Taylor to do a little pop-culture speed date, and it turns out he’s kind of a fanatic. Watch the video, above, to fall in love with him even more as he reveals his love for early ’90s cult movie Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, his TV guilty pleasure Honey Boo Boo, and his obsession with HBO’s The Comeback, which he started watching when he was roommates with his best friend, Billy Eichner, of Billy on the Street (and Burger King-hating) fame.

He also loves The Joker (shhh, don’t tell), and admits that his very first TV crush ever just so happens to be one of his Gotham co-stars now. Any guesses?

But he’s not so sure about the fandom names that’ve been thrown around by Penguin lovers. Sorry Penguinettes! “That makes it so it’s all girls, and you know, hey, there’s some dudes out there who might be into it, too! [Laughs.]”
