According to a public release statement from HBO spokesperson Nancy Lesser, the actor, 68, and his production company, Tribeca Productions will team with HBO to adapt the book Truth and Consequences: Inside the Life of the Madoff Family into a TV movie. Reservation Road writer John Burnham Schwartz will write the screen adaptation of the financial guru's story.

Madoff, 73, worked as a financial advisor for many decades and held a top-tiered reputation for handling massive accounts. However, in 2009 the former chairman of NASDAQ pleaded guilty to 11 federal felonies and admitted he'd been running a ponzi scheme for years, cheating his thousands of clients out of their life savings.

Indeed, his actions ruined many lives. The former Upper East Side resident himself is now serving a 150-year prison sentence, his son Mark committed suicide in 2010, and thousands of his clients have plead bankruptcy.
