30 must-watch new summer shows
"We are thrilled to be working with Rob Lowe, Ginnifer Goodwin and Michelle Trachtenberg, three gifted artists whom have responded to this timely, authentic and entertaining material," Howard T. Owens, president of the National Geographic Channels, said. "With Killing Kennedy, timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the assassination of JFK, National Geographic Channel continues to bring daring, culturally significant television events to our growing global audience."
The drama will follow the lives of JFK and his future assassin Lee Harvey Oswald from 1959 until the Kennedy's tragic death in 1963. Killing Kennedy is the latest adaptation of Bill O'Reilly's bestselling books by National Geographic. The most recent adaptation, Killing Lincoln, became the most-watched program in the network's history when it premiered in February. There are already plans for a third collaboration based on O'Reilly's next book, Killing Jesus.
This is Lowe's second project with Nat Geo this year. In April, the Parks and Recreation star narrated the miniseries The '80s: The Decade That Made Us.
Production on Killing Kennedy will begin in June with a premiere planned later this year, tied to the 50th anniversary of Kennedy's death.
