Remembering Alan Thicke (1947-2016)

Alan Thicke, one of television's most beloved stars, has passed away. Best known for his role as Dr. Jason Seaver on the 1980s sitcom Growing Pains, Thicke died suddenly on Dec. 13 after suffering a heart attack while playing hockey with his son. He was 69 years old. The Canadian-born actor is survived by his wife, Tanya, and sons Robin, Brennan, and Carter.

While Thicke will forever be remembered for his role on ABC's Growing Pains, the multitalented star had a long career in television as an actor, talk show host, game show host, and composer. Thicke most recently appeared on the This Is Us pilot and Netflix’s Fuller House, but he was also an accomplished songwriter, penning the familiar TV theme songs for several classic shows, including Diff’rent Strokes and The Facts of Life.
