Ratings: Weekend Update Stays Strong, Places Second Behind Big Brother

NBC’s Saturday Night Live: Weekend Update special this Thursday again placed second for the night, trailing only CBS’ Big Brother in the demo.

With NFL preemptions now factored out, Weekend Update drew 4.9 million total viewers and a 1.2 demo rating (per finals), adding a few eyeballs versus last week while steady in the demo. The Wall’s 4.9 mil/0.9 rose two tenths, while The Night Shift (3.5 mil/0.6) ticked up a tenth,

CBS | Big Brother led the night with 6.5 mil and a 2.1 (up two tenths week-to-week), leading into Zoo‘s 2.6 mil/0.6 (flat). Opening the Eye’s lineup, a Big Bang rerun drew Thursday’s second largest audience, with 5.9 mil.

ABC | Boy Band (2.5 mil/0.5) , Battle of the Network Stars (2.7 mil/0.6) and The Gong Show (2.3 mil/0.6) were all steady.

FOX | Beat Shazam (2.5 mil/0.7) was flat, Love Connection (2.3 mil/0.6) ticked up.

THE CW | Penn & Teller (1.5 mil/0.4) ticked up, Whose Line (1.3 mil/0.3) was flat.
