Ratings: No Miley Cyrus? No Problem – Teen Choice Awards Grow Double Digits From 2016

Sunday’s Teen Choice Awards on Fox got a boost from 2016, although the telecast was still not the night’s top choice for many people.

The annual awards show, which made headlines for Miley Cyrus opting to skip the ceremony despite receiving the Ultimate Choice Award, was up 12 percent from last year in total viewers with 1.9 million, and up 20 percent from last year in adults 18-49 with a 0.6 rating and a 2 share.

However, Fox was fourth in total viewers for the night, even landing behind NBC, which aired reruns.

CBS was first in ratings with a 1.0 rating/4 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 4.9 million, according to preliminary numbers. At 7 p.m., “60 Minutes” grabbed a 1.0/4 with 6.7 million viewers. “Big Brother” at 8 had a 1.7/7 and 6.6 million viewers. “Candy Crush” at 9 received a 0.9/3 and 3.4 million viewers. A rerun followed.

ABC was second in ratings with a 0.8/3 and in viewers with 4.3 million. Following repeats, “Steve Harvey’s Funderdome” at 9 had a 0.8/3 and 3.9 million viewers. “The $100,000 Pyramid” at 10 put up a 0.7/3 and 4.2 million viewers.

NBC and Fox tied for third in ratings, both with a 0.6; Fox had a 3 share, and NBC had a 2. NBC was third in total viewers with 3.1 million, and Fox was fourth with 2.0 million. NBC aired nothing but reruns, while the Teen Choice Awards was Fox’s only original program — repeats led into the special.

Telemundo and Univision tied for fifth in ratings, both with a 0.3/1. Univision was fifth in total viewers with 1.1 million, and Telemundo was sixth with 913,000.
