Ratings: NBC’s ‘Marlon’ Scores Top Scripted Summer Debut Behind ‘America’s Got Talent’

NBC took Wednesday’s ratings crown as debuting sitcom “Marlon” landed a choice post-“America’s Got Talent” slot.

“America’s Got Talent” was the most-viewed show of the night, and it helped Marlon Wayans’ new comedy to earn the summer’s top-rated scripted premiere of a new or returning show on the Big Four.

ABC aired the three-hour “CMA Fest 2017,” which was up two percent over the 2016 event. This marked the biggest overall audience for the country music special in three years.

NBC was first in ratings with a 1.3 rating/5 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 6.1 million, according to preliminary numbers. “America’s Got Talent” at 8 p.m. scored a 2.1/9 and 10.7 million viewers.

The series premiere of “Marlon” at 9 grabbed a 1.3/5 and 5.4 million viewers. A second new episode at 9:30 had a 1.0/4 in 18-49 and 4.1 million viewers.

ABC was second in ratings with a 1.2/5 and in viewers with 5.7 million. “CMA Fest 2017” at 8 put up a 1.2/5 and 5.7 million viewers.

CBS was third in ratings with a 0.9/4 and in viewers with 4.1 million. “Big Brother” at 8 notched a 1.9/8 and 6.3 million viewers. “Salvation” at 9 had a 0.5/2 and 3.1 million viewers, while a second new episode at 10 dipped to a 0.4/2 and 2.8 million viewers.

Fox was fourth in ratings with a 0.8/3 and in viewers with 2.4 million. “MasterChef” at 8 stirred up a 0.9/4 and 3 million viewers. The season finale of “The F Word With Gordon Ramsay” managed a 0.6/2 and 1.8 million viewers.

Telemundo was fifth in ratings with a 0.7/3 and in viewers with 1.7 million.

Univision was sixth in ratings with a 0.5/2 and in viewers with 1.4 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.2/1 and in viewers with 675,000, airing just repeats.
