Queen Latifah Secures Second Season of Talkshow

The CBS-owned TV stations have renewed Queen Latifah’s daytime talkshow, ensuring that the Sony Pictures TV syndicated series will continue for a second season.

The renewal had been expected, as its station affiliates committed to two-year deals at the outset. And the Eye’s stations have not moved to line up replacement programs, nor is CBS’ syndie wing fielding anything that could have been a competitor for the time slots. With the CBS deal in place, “The Queen Latifah Show” is renewed for a second year on stations covering 97% of U.S. TV households.

“The Queen Latifah Show” has delivered modest numbers since its September debut but enough to make it the top-rated new entrant in this season’s thin crop of talk shows.

“We are proud to have the CBS stations as our partners as we continue to build the Queen Latifah show into a franchise brand,” said John Weiser, Sony Pictures TV’s prexy of U.S. distribution. “We look forward to building on the success of this year’s  No. 1 new talk show by delivering the highest quality program to our stations, advertisers and viewers.”
