‘Project Runway’ Surprises Designers With Family Members

On Thursday’s Project Runway the designers were greeted by friends and family who were also their clients for the upcoming challenge. Erin said, “You can’t not cry when you see your mom. I stayed inside of her for an extra month, and I pooped in her, so … we have a special bond.”

They were tasked with creating a look that would suit their clients.

When Rik spoke to his mother about his design, he welled up with tears. He credited her with helping him work toward his career path as a designer and shared that he owed her for his education and supporting his endeavors. He won the competition and a $25,0000 prize. He said, “This definitely means a lot to me. She’s been such a huge support in this career path that I’ve taken. The fact that I can give her back $25,000 as well is amazing. She definitely worked for it, and I definitely worked for this as well. I think we deserve a huge vacation after this.”

Project Runway airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on Lifetime.
