007's famous studio is expanding east.

Pinewood Studios Group has strengthened its presence in China, opening a representative office in Beijing and naming Amanda Halliday senior vp of Pinewood China.

"Pinewood has been working in China for a number of years, and we have forged some strong relationships with film companies, content producers and games developers," said Andrew Smith, Pinewood China president, on Tuesday's announcement. "A permanent presence in China is a key strategic element of Pinewood's overall international strategy."

Pinewood says it already provides consultancy services to several major Chinese film companies, including Dalian Wanda Group, which it advises on the design and construction of the Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis, a film facility and studio complex comprising 45 stages and scheduled to open in 2017.

Most recently, Pinewood's post-production sound team provided post-production services to Chinese clients including Tencent Games and Disneynature/Shanghai Media Group. Halliday, who joined Pinewood in 2014, oversaw these consultancy projects.

The news comes just over a month after Pinewood accepted a $435 million takeover offer by asset management firm Aermont Capital.
