Petticoat Junction Star Mike Minor Dies

Mike Minor, best known for playing Petticoat Junction‘s Steve Elliott, has died, Programming Insider reports. He was 75.

UPDATE: Though initial reports said Minor died on Jan. 25 of cancer, his sister-in-law Marlene Durr Fedderson posted on Facebook that he died suddenly on Jan. 28.

Minor first appeared on the CBS comedy in 1964 as a minor character named Dan Plout, who was around for one episode. In 1966, he debuted as Steve, a crop duster originally intended to be Billie Jo’s love interest. His storyline later changed to pair him romantically with Linda Kaye Henning’s Betty Jo; he and Henning later were married in real life.

His other TV credits include My Three Sons, The Beverly Hillbillies, All My Children and L.A. Law.
