‘People v. O.J. Simpson’ Producers Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson Ink Overall TV Deal With FX Productions
Following their triumphant Emmy wins Sunday night, “American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson” producers Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson have inked a new overall deal with FX Productions, Variety has learned.
Jacobson and Simpson originally signed their first television production pact with FX Productions in 2012 with a first look deal. The new agreement puts the pair under an overall deal with the studio by way of their Color Force production company. Under the new deal, Jacobson and Simpson will draw on relationships with writer-producers and pursue literary properties for all TV services and platforms.
The agreement does not include their film projects, though it complements Color Force’s existing feature film first look deal with Fox 2000.
“For the past four years, we have had the honor of working with Nina and Brad and we’re grateful that they will continue to call FX Productions their home for television,” said Eric Schrier and Nick Grad, presidents of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. “Nina and Brad are two of the most accomplished producers in the business and their Emmy Award winning limited series ‘The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story’ speaks volumes about their extraordinary talents. We‘re looking forward to working on many more great projects with them.”

This weekend, “The People v. O.J. Simpson” — which the duo produced with Ryan Murphy, Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszweski — swept the Emmys with nine wins and a whopping 22 nominations. The critically-acclaimed project won for outstanding limited series, among its other major awards.
“People v. O.J. Simpson” marked the first TV project for Jacobson and Simpson, whose film credits include “The Hunger Games” franchise for Jacobson and “World War Z” for Simpson. By way of the Fox 2000 feature film deal, Color Force is currently in production on “Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Long Haul,” which marks the fourth film in the series. Also on Color Force’s film slate are movie adaptations of novels “The Goldfinch” and “Crazy Rich Asians.”
Up next in the TV space, Jacobson and Simpson are working on the upcoming seasons of “American Crime Story” with Season 2 revolving around the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The duo is also working on the television adaptation of the novel ” Y The Last Man” for FX.
CAA’s Joe Cohen and Danny Grover negotiated the overall deal on behalf of Color Force.
