People Hate the New 'Top Gear'

While the ratings will most likely be kind to the premiere of the rebooted Top Gear, Twitter was not. The old show with new hosts premiered in the UK on BBC Sunday night and it didn't take long before #FLOPGEAR to start trending. Things weren't much better when the show premiered on BBC America Monday evening. The vast majority of tweets about the show and it's new hosts were negative. People particularly disliked how Chris Evans tended to shout quite a bit. Evans did not like the negative feedback and sent multiple tweets using ratings to defend the shows performance. When a show was already one of the most popular shows in the history of television, it's hard to not think that people will tune into the first episode of the reboot. The real testament to the shows overall success is how it performs in the weeks to come. If half the people on Twitter stick to their claims of not watching the show again, BBC's cash cow might be out to pasture permanently.
