‘Outsiders’ Season 2: Watch the First Trailer

Is Big Foster (David Morse) really dead? That question remains a mystery, but at least now we know when we’ll get an answer: Jan. 24, when the second season of WGN’s drama Outsiders premieres.

Big Foster, as fans will recall, was shot and presumed dead in the Season 1 finale, with his wife, G’win (Gillian Alexy), taking over as the Bren’in. In the Season 2 preview clip above, new leader G’win’s voice-over makes it clear the Farrells of Shay Mountain have only become more committed to protecting their land from the coal company that wants to strip it and cast the Farrells off the mountain at the same time.

We also see in the preview clip that the confrontation between Wade Houghton’s cops and the Farrells has left Wade (Thomas M. Wright) and many others bloodied, promising the tensions between the Farrells and the townsfolk aren’t going to be squashed any time soon, and that Wade’s personal history with the Farrells will also continue to unfold.

One more particularly interesting scene in the clip: is Ryan Hurst’s Lil Foster wearing prison duds while punching someone? Because that would give us all kinds of chilling and tragic Sons of Anarchy flashbacks.

Outsiders Season 2 premieres Jan. 24 on WGN America.
