‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 5 Deleted Scene: Can Emma Earn Her Family’s Trust?

Once you go dark, it’s hard to get back to the light.

Season 5 of Once Upon a Time turned hero Emma (Jennifer Morrison) into the Dark One. She wiped out her family’s memories of their time in Camelot — so it was no wonder they stopped trusting her. In episode 10, “Broken Heart,” they even left the magic-canceling cuff on her, after Zelena slapped it on, because even son Henry could no longer trust her.

In this deleted scene from “Broken Heart,” featured on the Season 5 DVD/Blu-ray, Emma’s family has deputized Merida (Amy Manson) to keep an eye on her. But Merida wakes up to find herself all tied up.

“I will let you go as soon as I earn back my family’s trust,” Emma promises.

Merida is dubious — she’s going to earn back trust by escaping? “You have a funny sense of morality.”

But sometimes, you have to do something bad for the sake of the greater good. In this case, Emma knows there’s a greater threat out there. “The Dark Ones, all of them, are planning something,” she warns.
