Lifetime has found its adult Cathy for its followup to “Flowers in the Attic.”
Rose McIver will play the pivotal role in “Petals on the Wind,” a network representative told TheWrap.
Executive producer Michele Weiss has previously told TheWrap that “Flowers in the Attic’s” young stars Kiernan Shipka and Mason Dye, who played oldest children Cathy and Chris, won’t be back for the sequel as they’re too young for the roles. “Petals on the Wind” will be set in the 1970s, 10 years after the events of “Flowers,” in the South.
McIver joins already confirmed returning cast members Heather Graham and Ellen Burstyn.
The actress most recently played Tinker Bell on ABC’s “Once Upon a Time.” Her credits also include Showtime’s “Masters of Sex” and children may recognize her as the Yellow Power Ranger on ABC’s “Power Rangers R.P.M.” She also appeared on the film “The Lovely Bones.”
A New Zealand native, McIver is represented by WME, Sue Barnett and Associates (Australia), Johnson and Laird Management (New Zealand) and Principato-Young Entertainment.
“Petals on the Wind” is produced by Silver Screen Pictures for Lifetime Pictures. The movie is executive produced by Merideth Finn and Michele Weiss of Cue the Dog Productions, who also produced “Flowers in the Attic.” Richard D. Arredondo (“Abducted: The Carlina White Story”) produces along with Kyle A. Clark (“Liz & Dick”) of Silver Screen Pictures.
Rob Sharenow, Tanya Lopez and Lisa Hamilton Daly are executive producing for Lifetime. The teleplay is by Kayla Alpert (“Flowers in the Attic”) and Karen Moncrieff (“Blue Car”) will direct.
