Warning: This recap for “Murder Most Foul” episode of Once Upon a Time contains spoilers.

How do you befriend anyone when you’re Captain Hook?

Especially when it’s your girlfriend’s dad?!

Emma’s relationship to her parents has always been pretty weird, since she was the same age as them when they met. So, her boyfriend’s relationship to them was bound to be even weirder. Captain Hook is likely older than her dad, honestly, and probably more experienced in the ways of the world.

So, we get a very weird, very awkward look at the sort-of friendship between Hook (Emma’s BF) and David (Emma’s dad) this week. And we learn there are all sorts of non-Emma-related trouble they have to deal with!

Here’s a rundown of this week’s episode…

Hero of the Week: Hook

David seriously needs a nap. He feels too guilty about inadvertently letting loose Gideon on Storybrooke to switch places with Snow White, resulting in a total lack of sleep.

He’s even having visions/nightmares of his long-departed father. With Snow asleep and Emma just returned from Wish Dream World, it’s up to Hook to keep an eye on David.

In a flashback, we see that David’s father wasn’t totally cool with giving up his son to the king. He’s been looking for James, but upon confronting the king, Dad shows his true colors — he is just as self-serving as the king that “David” knew as a father.

And in Storybrooke, Hook attempts to wake David up to the truth. David is still too delirious, and in anger and confusion, he believes he should take out his father. Hook steps in and wisely prevents it. David soon realizes that he’s in the wrong. “What if being Prince Charming isn’t enough?” he wonders, before finally waking Snow.

Meanwhile, Emma thanks Hook for looking out for David. What she doesn’t know — and what we see — is that Hook is responsible for killing David’s father in the Enchanted Forest, for no better reason than greed. Will he own up to it? Would Emma forgive him? How will Captain Swan survive?

Villain of the Week: Dream Robin

OK, Robin Hood is back, but this is not the Robin we all know and love.

This is Wish World Robin, and he is not head-over-heels in love with Regina. And he seems more concerned with taking out the Sheriff of Nottingham than dealing with the two children he has!

When Regina finally tells him that he has a fairly new baby with her own sister, Robin initially resists. But then the two kiss, and it seems like true love will prevail.

But again, this is Wish World Robin. He’s lived a harder, more cynical life. This one is not Regina’s true love. After David finally switches places with Snow, she opens up to her former step-daughter: “He is not my Robin Hood,” Regina admits.

And if he’s not her Robin Hood, he may not be on their side. So, is he a hero or a villain?

Only time will tell.
