'Once Upon a Time' Finale Sneak Peek: Will Rumplestiltskin Get His Happy Ending?

On Once Upon a Time, only heroes get happy endings, right?

Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) hopes not. His dark heart is turning into coal, fast, and his only hope at redemption is The Author (Patrick Fischler) writing a new kind of fairy tale for them all.

In this sneak peek clip from Sunday’s two-hour season finale, The Author is willing to help Mr. Gold, though Gold can’t understand why. “You have the quill now. You don’t need me anymore,” he notes.

The Author explains that they have more in common than The Dark One realizes. “I know what that’s like — to always have dissatisfaction gnawing at you, watching other people’s happiness bloom,” he says. “It’s time for a world where up is down, where villains can have happy endings.”

But before he puts the finishing touches on the new story, he has one last piece of the puzzle to figure out — what to do about Baelfire, Rumple’s son. OMG, can The Author bring back Neal?! Watch the sneak peek to find out how Baelfire fits into the new world order.

Once Upon a Time Season 4 concludes with a two-hour finale Sunday, May 10 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
