Obama Wins Late-Night As ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ Tops Preliminary Ratings

President Obama-boosted Jimmy Kimmel Live ranked as the No. 1 late-night show in households in the 56 metered markets (2.7/7) last night. The ABC show bested NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (2.1/6) and CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (2.1/6).

In the demo, Kimmel (0.7/4) also finished first in the 25 Local People Meter markets, besting Tonight (0.6/3) and Late Show (0.4/2).

Monday’s JKL tied its best late-night household performance for an original on any night since Obama’s previous visit 19 months ago, on March 12, 2015. In fairness, Monday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live also got an assist from Will Ferrell, reprising his impression of the late Chicago Cubs announcer Harry Caray in time for the World Series, and Joel McHale, who got bumped off the show in the cold open to make way for Obama and his Secret Service detail.
