'The Night Of' Finale's Surprising Ending

HBO's aired the finale of it's miniseries The Night Of. The episode followed the end of Naz's murder trial. Naz was put on the witness stand by his attorney, Chandra. However, when he was examined by the Helen Weiss, the prosecuting attorney, we heard the question that has been on everyone's mind. She asked, "Did you kill her?" Naz responded, "I don't know." While Naz's attorney, Jack Stone tried to track down several leads to find the real killer, Lt. Box spent much of the episode tracking just one. He found Raymond Halle, Andrea's shady accountant and sometimes lover. Chandra's ill-advised kiss with Naz was shown to the judge so, she was sidelined. That forced Stone to give a passionate closing argument while his skin was riddled with eczema. The jury came back deadlocked. Knowing the information about Halle that Box had shown her, Weiss decided to not pursue the further prosecution. Naz was set free. He packed his things and walked out of prison of prison with his new tattoos, new drug addiction, and new freedom.
