‘Empire’: Nia Long Brings the Drama
On Empire, Nia Long arrived with a bang as Giuliana, the mistreated wife of Rafael, a Las Vegas kingpin and one of Shine’s more dangerous associates. Rafael was about to be instrumental in furthering Andre’s anti-Lucious plot until things got heated between him and Giuliana. When Rafael suspected that Giuliana had set him up after seeing Andre Lyon, Giuliana tried to convince her husband that she had nothing to do with Andre’s arrival. But Rafael seemed less than convinced and slapped her and sent her to a corner and then got a gun that he seemed prepared to use on Andre. Giuliana wasn’t having it, though: She pulled out her own gun and shot Rafael in the head.
It turns out that the drama wasn’t just on camera for Nia Long, with TMZ reporting rumors of Long’s bad behavior on the set, including her and Taraji P. Henson “at each other’s throats” to the point of having to shoot scenes separately. Though Long’s reps call the stories “complete nonsense,” we are wondering if her character, Giuliana, will make it to season four.
