Meredith Vieira's upcoming daytime show has been sold to NBC Owned Television Stations for its debut next fall.
The one-hour offering will air on 10 NBC-owned stations, including WNBC New York, KNBC Los Angeles, WMAQ Chicago, WCAU Philadelphia, KXAS Dallas-Fort Worth, KNTV San Francisco, WTVJ Miami, KNSD San Diego, WVIT Hartford and WRC Washington, D.C.
All told, the stations account for 27 percent of the country's television households.
"The Meredith Vieira Show" is being produced in New York, on a set that resembles the "Today" show vet's home. Promising a mix of feel-good human-interest stories and celebrity guests, the series "will blend the host's unique point of view, empathy, and sense of humor with insightful storytelling that will make viewers laugh, learn and feel inspired," NBCUniversal Domestic TV Distribution said.
"We couldn't be happier to welcome Meredith Vieira to our 10 stations next year," said Valari Staab, president of NBC Owned Television Stations. "With her genuine warmth, intelligence and likeability, as well as her extraordinary ability to understand and connect with viewers, Meredith is a great addition to our daytime lineup. We look forward to the Fall of 2014."
Vieira most recently hosted the game show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," which is being taken over by Cedric the Entertainer in the fall.
