By now, you’ve probably seen posters and trailers for HBO’s sci-fi Western “Westworld,” which debuts Sunday night. And you’ve probably seen the concept of “Kanye Westworld” bandied about on Twitter for a while. Jimmy Kimmel created the mash-up we were waiting for last night on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
Kimmel’s team spliced the rapper into various scenes in the “Westworld” trailer, making his voice offer choice rejoinders to some of the ominous lines uttered by characters like Anthony Hopkins‘ Dr. Robert Ford.
“I just told you who I thought I was: a god,” West says. And when you stop to think about it, a trip into the life or mind of the outspoken rapper would probably make a pretty cool immersive world-experience, though whether you are able to appreciate it at the time of visit would be up for debate.
“Westworld,” for those who saw neither the 1973 movie nor any of HBO’s ubiquitous trailers, concerns a theme park populated by extremely human-like androids, whose burgeoning consciousness may prove a problem for guests and park owners.
The first season, which premieres this Sunday, will not include actual Kanye West cameos, but there’s always hope for such an appearance in subsequent seasons, should HBO order them.
Note: The Twitter handle that appears on screen at the end, @KanyeWestworldHBO, has yet to be claimed.
