Gwyneth Paltrow shares her thoughts about using Botox and getting and older -- and admits to occasionally cheating on her diet -- during a candid chat with British Cosmopolitan. The Iron Man 3 actress (mom to Apple, 9, and Moses, 7, with husband Chris Martin, 36) also shares some fun trivia about herself in the magazine's latest issue.
"I don't like Botox. I think on some faces it works, but it's when you can really see it that it starts to look fake," says the star, who turned 40 in September 2012. "I think people look at tiny patches of their face and try to fix everything -- they've lost the plot!"
To maintain her youthful appearance, "I stock up on products from French pharmacies," Paltrow reveals. "They have amazing burn creams and makeup removers. I love how French actresses age but don't really do anything about it – it's beautiful."
The reason Paltrow looks half her age, she explains, is because she's cognizant of how food and exercise affect her body. "I think diet and exercise play a huge part in aging well. I like the Tracy Anderson Method -- it's really fun and a great way to burn calories!" Paltrow says. "If I'm traveling, I do the DVDs, and she has five trainers in London. I also have a [radio-frequency-based] facial treatment called Thermage, which makes a big difference -- it's nice to boost collagen."
Though she prefers low-carb, gluten-free fare, Paltrow isn't afraid to break her diet from time to time. "I love Starbucks -- I'll have a cappuccino," the two-time cookbook author says. "My guilty snack in the UK is cheese, and in America, things on buns: a lobster roll and French fries, or a turkey burger with cheese."
Surprisingly, Paltrow tells the magazine disagrees with doctors who warn patients to avoid tanning. "We're human beings and the sun is the sun -- how can it be bad for you? I think we should all get sun and fresh air," the actress tells British Cosmopolitan. "I don't think anything that is natural can be bad for you -- it's really good to have at least 15 minutes of sun a day."
