The CW is bringing back “Dynasty.”
Schwartz and Savage are writing and executive producing the project along with Sallie Patrick. The project hails from the duo’s Fake Empire production company in association with CBS TV Studios.
The reboot will follow two of America’s wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children.
The series will be told primarily through the perspectives of two women at odds: Fallon Carrington — daughter of billionaire Blake Carrington — and her soon-to-be stepmother, Cristal — a Hispanic woman marrying into this WASP family and America’s most powerful class.
Original “Dynasty” creators Esther Shapiro & Richard Shapiro will also serve as executive producers.
Also in development at The CW are “Casa,” a family drama revolving around immigration, from Greg Berlanti, as well as “Mata Hari,” based on the life of Margaretha Geertruida “Margreet” MacLeod, the Dutch exotic dancer who was convicted of being a spy in World War I, and Tim Kring‘s “Stick Man,” a crime drama described as being in the vein of “Making a Murderer.”
