Deadline’s YouTube Channel Rankings

Juan Manuel Marquez’s startling sixth-round knockout of Manny Pacquiao in their WBO world welterweight fight on Saturday helped SB Nation to emerge as the big winner in the universe of Google-funded YouTube channels for the week ending December 12. The sports channel’s coverage of the fourth meeting between the closely matched rivals enabled it to gain 1.7M views, for a total of 1.8M, and leap 70 spots to No. 15. The surge took place in a week when the YouTube channels we monitor rebounded. Total views were up 29% to 85.5M. The top 10 channels accounted for about 48% of the total. Noisey rejoined the group, rising one slot to No. 10, while Clevver News dropped three places to No. 12.

Here are the week’s winners and losers, starting with the top gainers by views after SB Nation: Redbull (+1.5M to 5M), Vice (+1.4M to 4M), The Warner Sound (+1.4M to 8.6M), Motor Trend (+1.3M to 4.1M), and Kick (+1.2M to 1.8M). Biggest jumps by rank, also after SB Nation: Bammo (+28 to No. 74), Popspot (+21 to No. 68), Kick (+19 to No. 13), NOC (+19 to No. 18), and Fawn Inc (+14 to No. 55). Biggest decliners by views: Soul Pancake (-688,725 to 401,417), Shut Up Cartoons (-147,813 to 870,852), Geek and Sundry (-140,362 to 747.584), Nerdist (-136,848 to 1.2M), and Sci Show (-102,136 to 983,674). And dropping most by rank: Soul Pancake (-29 to No. 45), Hungry (-28 to No. 90), Bowery Presents (-25 to No. 86), 123UNODOSTRES (-17 to No. 71), and a tie — both down 12 — between Shut Up Cartoons (No. 32) and Geek and Sundry (No. 35).

Blayze supplies the data for our tally with one exception: YouTube provides views for the shows it funds on Mondo Media. Channels highlighted in beige are the ones that were launched before Google introduced its original channels program in November. Here’s our latest ranking:
