The Daily Show's Jason Jones is headed for NBC.
The actor/comedian/Daily Show correspondent has been tapped to star in NBC's comedy pilot Love Is Relative, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
From Borat's Dan Mazer, the comedy centers on a wife (GCB's Leslie Bibb) and her husband and how they start to see their marriage in a whole new way when her newly divorced brother (Barry Rothbart) moves in with them.
Jones will star as Nate, a good dad and husband who views with envy the perks of a bachelor's life when his brother-in-law moves in.
Mazer will pen the script, direct and exec produce the 20th Century Fox Television single-camera comedy alongside Tom Werner and Tom Lassally. Jones joins a cast that also includes Pitch Perfect's Utkarsh Ambudkar.
Should Love Is Relative go to series, Jones would exit his role with the Daily Show, where he has been a correspondent since 2005. His TV credits include a guest spot on NBC's The Michael J. Fox Show and CMT's animated comedy Bounty Hunters. Last season, he was attached to star in ABC's comedy pilot Divorce: A Love Story, which did not move forward. On the film side, his résumé includes All About Steve, Pitch Perfect and the upcoming sequel to Hot Tub Time Machine. Jones is repped by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment and Hansen Jacobson.
