One of the world's leading wine events will be chaired by a Hollywood family that knows a thing or two about wine themselves
The annual celeb-drawing Auction Napa Valley has tapped Francis, Eleanor, Sofia, Roman and Gia Coppola as honorary chairs. Oprah Winfrey, Chrissy Teigen & John Legend, Jay Leno and Ryan Seacrest have previously attended the affair, which will be held June 1-4, 2017.
Each of member of the Coppola family will oversee one of the weekend's many events held in Napa County, Calif. Eleanor Coppola will plan the June 2 Napa Valley Barrel Auction at the family's Inglenook Estate, while Francis Ford Coppola will shepherd an al fresco dinner at Meadowood Napa Valley on June 3 following a live auction celebration overseen by Roman Coppola. The night will conclude with an afterparty planned by Gia Coppola.
An invitation-only top bidder dinner will be designed by Sofia Coppola on the event's opening day, June 1.
The celebration is planned by the non-profit Napa Valley Vintners, which is composed of over 500 wineries in Napa County.
"While Auction Napa Valley is truly one of the world's best celebrations of wine and food, it's really all about neighbors helping neighbors by fundraising the best way we know how," Emma Swain, chair of the Napa Valley Vintners' board of directors and CEO of St. Supéry Estate Vineyards & Winery, said Thursday in a statement. "I can't think of members of our community who've been more passionate and generous than Francis and Eleanor about embracing the people and legacy of Napa Valley."
Ticket packages range from $3,500 to $20,000 per couple for the weekend. The auction last year raised $14.3 million for local charities that provide key resources including health insurance to every child in Napa County.
