NBC Wins Saturday With Olympics Trials

NBC won Saturday primetime in 18-49 and total viewers with NBC Sports coverage of U.S. Olympic Team Trials for swimming and for track & field. The latter was the No. 1 program and swimming trials were No. 2 for the evening. From 8-9 p.m. NBC Sports coverage of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials: Swimming Finals lead all networks (1.3/6 in 18-49, 5.3 million viewers overall) during the time period. Fox scored a 1.3/6 rating/share and 2.72 million viewers for Major League Baseball (8-10 PM ET). A repeat of ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition took a 0.5/2 with 1.9 million viewers and a CBS repeat of CSI: NY had a 0.4/2 and 3.08 million viewers.

In the 9-10 PM hour, NBC’s U.S. Olympic Team Trials: Track & Field Finals dominated with 1.8/7 in 18-49 and 6.46 million viewers. Another repeat of Extreme Makeover Home Edition garnered a 0.6/2 rating/share and 2.28 million viewers for ABC and a repeat of Blue Bloods managed 0.4/2 and 3.72 million viewers for CBS. At 10 p.m. ET, CBS repeat of 48 Hours Mystery earned a 0.9/3 and 4.87 million viewers, ABC’s Castle (also a repeat) managed a 0.5/2 and 3.72 million while NBC’s The Firm averaged a 0.5/2 and 2.6 million viewers an increase of 18% viewership from the prior week according to preliminary results.
