NBC’s Drama Series ‘Dracula’, ABC’s Cullen Brothers Comedy Pilot Add To Casts

Irish actress Victoria Smurfit (Bulletproof Monk) has been cast in the upcoming NBC/Sky Living HD drama series Dracula starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The series re-introduces Dracula (Meyers) as he arrives in London, posing as American entrepreneur Alan Grayson who maintains that he wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. In reality, he hopes to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier but falls hopelessly in love with Mina Murray (Jessica De Gouw) who appears to be the reincarnation of his dead wife. Smurfit, repped by UTA, the Collective and UK’s United Agents, will play the lithe and beautiful Lady Jayne who is instantly attracted to Grayson and pursues him. Also previously cast in the series are Katie McGrath and Nonso Anozie. Based on a script by co-executive producer Cole Haddon, Dracula is executive produced by Colin Callender, Tony Krantz, Gareth Neame and Dan Knauf for Universal Television.

After setting its oldest star, James Caan, whose deal is being finalized, ABC’s Cullen brothers single-camera comedy pilot has cast its youngest. Private Practice alum Griffin Gluck has joined the multi-generational family comedy, from 20th Century Fox TV. It centers on Terry Gannon, a recently divorced single mother who temporarily moves in with her estranged father (Caan), a beer-swilling former baseball player. She reluctantly starts coaching her son Tommy’s (Gluck) underdog Little League team and is drawn back into the world of sports she vowed to leave behind. In addition to writing, the Cullen brothers are executive producing with Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment.
