If MTV has its way, Scream's Ghostface killer may be coming to terrorize viewers on the small screen.
TVLine reports that former network execs Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley -- who created the wildly popular Laguna Beach in 2004 -- are in search of a writer to pen the pilot they're developing for their old channel.
Should the project get picked up, DiSanto and Gateley's series would air weekly.
The Wes Craven-directed Scream film franchise -- centered around twentysomethings terrorized by the Ghostface killer -- premiered the first of four films in 1996, and has netted $500 million globally to date.
Its most recent installment, Scream 4, hit theaters in 2011.
